Array waveguide evanescent coupler for flexible optical interconnect

Abstract

A flexible array waveguide evanescent coupler for card-to-backplane optical interconnects is presented. Evanescent coupling between a backplane waveguide and a flexible polymer ribbon waveguide is demonstrated. This eliminates 45° waveguide mirrors and local waveguide terminations.
