An overview of videostreaming on the internet and its application to surgical education

Abstract

The Information Age has endowed mankind with a wealth of new technologies. Applications of these technologies are being developed to facilitate content exchange between individuals and institutions. Internet streaming is an exciting new technology that allows multi-media content to be stored and sent over the Internet, and medical educators are challenged to harness the potential of streaming for educational enhancement. This article helps to define streaming, examining its potential for surgical education.
