Abstract

Conducting human sexuality research continues to be a challenge for nurse researchers and may seem daunting to nursing students interested in conducting human sexuality research. The purpose of this paper was to conduct a comprehensive review of the literature to appraise the factors that have influenced human sexuality research for nurse researchers. Various factors, both intrinsically and extrinsically to the nursing profession, have had an influence on human sexuality studies conducted by nurse researchers. A critical appraisal of the findings from the review of the literature provide implications for nurse researchers as well as students of nursing interested in conducting human sexuality research.
