A uniqueness theorem for the anti-de Sitter soliton

Abstract

A uniqueness theorem for the anti-de Sitter (AdS) soliton was presented. The stability of physical systems depend on the existence of a state of least energy and in gravity this is assured by the positive energy theorem. A structure theorem for static λ <0 spacetimes was given and it was used to prove the uniqueness of the AdS soliton. The results offered support to the positive energy conjecture and added to the body of rigorous results inspired by AdS/conformal field theory (CFT) correspondence.
