Abstract
A technique to inject radioactive microspheres into the left atrium of awake dogs without prior thoracotomy was developed and tested. Twelve dogs were studied and evaluated: the interatrial septum was crossed and a catheter placed in the left atrium in all dogs without significant complication. This technique is useful for both single and repeat experiments.
