Abstract

Because of their slow growth and low fertility sharks will not be able to replace depleted stocks for many years. In 1989 the US National Marine Fisheries Service prepared a draft management plan which, if approved, will control the killing of sharks off the E coast of the USA. A worldwide scheme is needed. -G.M.Sheail
