Abstract

The structure of the mannan from baker's yeast has been examined by partial acid-hydrolysis and fractionation of the products. A homologous series of oligosaccharides containing 1,6-linkages has been isolated, and the structure of the disaccharide member confirmed by chemical synthesis. The repeating linkages in these oligasaccharides are believed to have the α-configuration.
