Abstract

Nigerose (3-0-α-D-glucopyranosyl-D-glucose) has been synthesised by reaction between 3:4:6-tri-O-acetyl-1-chloro-β-D-glucopyranose and 1:2-5:6-di-O-isopropylidene-3-O-sodio-α-D-glucofuranose. Minor products are kojibiose, a trehalose, and an unidentified diglucose.
